Turkey day #2 (Friday)

Friday we had our 2nd Thanksgiving get-together at our house. My Dad, Michael, Eileen (Mike's girlfriend), and David all joined us for a prime rib meal. My Mom unfortunately wasn't able to be there, she had flown down to San Diego Thursday to be with my Grandpa who was in the hospital and not doing very well :(. She had already planned on flying down next week but after a conference call with all the "kids" Wednesday night, she decided it would be best to fly down sooner than later. We definitely missed her but it best for her to be with her Dad and siblings.

So Matt made a huge prime rib on the Treager that was soooo good, he was a little nervous about cooking it since it was such a big piece of meat and the thickness made it hard to make sure it was cooked enough but not overdone. Dad came and cooked up a storm....he made Matt's request, scalloped potatoes, and some really good spatzle with onions and cheese...hmmmmm I am getting hungry just thinking about it :) !!

David brought Riggs with him which made Tasha very happy, she loves her cousin. It was a great evening of watching football, cooking and hanging out.....I will let the photos tell the rest.

Beth's house and Turkey day #1 (Wednesday night and Thursday)

This has been a very long weekend, and it is only Saturday night....so in order to keep my sanity but also get everything down I am going to split up these posts.

Wednesday night Matt and I headed up to Beth's house after work to get an early start on the long Thanksgiving day weekend. I had somehow been fortunate enough to get Friday off and wasn't scheduled for the weekend....yippee!! Matt picked me up with the car all packed and ready to go so we could get right up the freeway. We knew it could be ugly but we didn't expect to hit traffic right off the bat. For the first 20-30 miles we were going about 15 m.p.h., oh boy, we were never going to get there! Luckily it finally cleared up and we were back on our way. This was the first time we had visited Beth and Jacob's new house that they had just bought at the beginning of the month....there was also something else new.....Dexter.
The new house

Dexter is their 6 month old lab mix puppy that they had just got from the pound the weekend before, the interesting thing about this was that we were bringing up Tasha :). When we got there Dex must have been in another room but just as we got our bodies and Tasha in the door out he came, and he was NOT happy about having this monster of a dog in HIS house. We were a little worried at first with how snappy and skittish he was around her. Usually Tasha is good about dogs until they make contact and then she "finishes the fight". But she was so incredibly patient with him and completely ignored him for the most part. I can only guess that she realized he was just scared of her and still very much a puppy. When he got too aggressive or snappy she would pin him down on the ground with her paw until he calmed down and then let him up. Dex must have realized that she was not going to hurt him because by the next morning he wouldn't leave her alone, playing and chasing and HUMPING. Holy cow he was funny to watch trying to get his paws way up high while Tasha ignored him and just stood there or walked away. I'm sure this is just the beginning to a wonderful "cousin" relationship!

The reason we had to get up to Beth's so early was so that Jacob and Matt could brew a couple batches of beer before we all headed over to Uncle Bob's house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a little colder outside than Matt had expected and he didn't think to bring a hat....so when he asked his little sis if she had one he could borrow, this is what she gave him....

Brewing beer on Turkey day morning

So the boys got 2 out of the 3 batches brewed before we needed to head over to Uncle Bob's house. Matt and I had never been there and conveniently enough it was only a couple of miles away from Beth's place. We also hadn't seen little Mr. Ryeder (Kelsea I'm sorry if I spelled this wrong, I saw in his room you had it spelled this way) for a couple of months; not since the infamous tequila 21st b-day.

Ryedr and Aunt Kathy

While dinner was cooking some of the gang entertained themselves with the Wii. Randy showed off his talent at Yoga......

This was the pose he was suppose to be doing.

Crazy Aunt Bethany made her lime jello surprise....I think Dex is missing some of his dog food!

Big Sis Meghan and Ryedr

The main course on the menu this year was Tur-duck-en....a combo of turkey, duck and chicken that was cooked on the Treager. It was definitely interesting.....

Jared has hid from me and the camera for years, finally he gave up and instead insists on giving me these type of faces :)

Bethany is hoping to get her finger back from a teething Ryedr

This family must be getting old or something because we were yawning and all ready to go home to bed by 8:30..... or maybe the tur-duck-en has more of that tryptophan than regular turkey. Matt and I headed home that night since we had to get ready for Turkey day #2 on Friday.....and so you will see tomorrow :) Happy Turkey Day!!!

Almost forgot.....

.....the most important news of the weekend; the BEAVS won!!! They nearly gave us a heart attack in the process. We were at Zoey's concert at the time of the final whistle....have to say Matt was very preoccupied by his I-phone to watch the bands play. I thought he was going to jump out of his seat when they hit the field goal in the last second to win it.....now just one more game to go....CIVIL WAR....for all those interested we will be watching the game at our house and you're more than welcome to join.....4 pm Saturday....get your orange and black ready!

Rock'n concert :)

My technician Tami's daughter Zoey had a concert Saturday night for the rock school she is in. I had missed the one last spring so I promised to attend this weekends performance with Matt. Beth and Jacob were coming down for a visit so they came along with us. The concert started at 6pm and I was under the impression that it would be a few hours.....well I guess it takes a little longer to go through all of the groups in the rock school. :) When we got out at 10:30 the troops were a little tired and hungry....I told Matt it was his community service and donation for the year. Don't get me wrong, it was very entertaining. It was almost like a comedy routine with some of the very hyper kids running around the stage...and the comments made when they were asked to take the microphone and talk about themselves.

We had t-shirts made for the crew, mainly to embarrass Zoey but to have fun too. I also made a sign to hold up and cheer for her, but also to embarrass her :)

Other than that it was a pretty quiet weekend. Beth and Jacob were down to hang out and bottle the beer Jacob had brewed with Matt a few weeks back. We also found out that we have a new nephew....a four legged one :) I just got a text from Beth that they finally found a furry child to adopt....Tasha will be so happy to have a new cousin. It should be interesting to see them meet next week when we go up for dinner.....hopefully Tasha will be a good bigger/older cousin.

Ok, now for all the pics. There are a lot of them, just hang with me........
