Brad's 21st B-day and Ryder & Rylie meet

This Saturday we had a BBQ out at Randy and Kathy's house for Brads 21st birthday. Brad won't be 21 until Monday, but that didn't stop us all from having a good time. There was so much going on that I will try and get it all in with the pictures. If anyone has any more they want me to add just email them to me: suzanne.mclaughlin@gmail.com

This was also the first time that 19 day old Ryder and 14 day old Rylie met. Dads Bob and David were taking bets on their young ones. The one that I heard is that there is $20 on a crawling race this Christmas. I haven't decided on who I am betting on yet :)

Kathy, Brad and Randy posing for a family picture. Brad's helmet was a gift from Bob's family, I don't think he took it off all night until the very end....you will see those pictures a little further down the page :)

Three of the many trouble makers of the night. Of course the Schlitz hat had to come out!

Mr. Ryder was very content being passed around, although he would definitely let you know when he was HUNGRY!

David chewing on Rylie's long toes; maybe he was just shortening them up to even them out with Ryder's. Man this little girl puts up with so much from her daddy.

Ryder happily sleeping in big sister Meghan's arms.

The first meeting of Ryder and Rylie. Just think, Beth and Bryce weighed about the same as these two when they were born, but poor Pam had to carry them both!

Boobs and Babies :)

The first feet comparison. Should be fun to do it again in a few months

Rylie's long, long toes help her win this foot war!

Ok, we are now back to the party and I told you that Brad took off his beer helmet eventually. We just didn't realize it would be to shave his head! Brad assured us many times that he wanted it all off, that is was the best idea EVER, and that he just loves it.

Just about everyone got a chance helping Brad cool off from all of that hair.

"I can't believe I shaved the WHOLE thing!"

Beth being Beth and Jacob loving her for it. By the way Jacob....how does your car smell?

Thanks Randy and Kathy for a great dinner and besides some lost keys and some lost hair an even better time. :)

Pictures of Rylie for Amma

So since Pam is off sailing away I told her I would keep posts of pictures of her little granddaughter.

More Pictures of Rylie

Here are a few more pictures of Rylie at 3 days old.

Amma Pam took these great shots.

Ok here is a look at the famous feet. Notice the little toe that curls under, I think her Auntie Bethany has toes like that.

She already knows how to pose for pictures!! :)

Either a funny dream or gas....I'll let you decide

Baby Rylie

So my little niece Rylie decided to come early and was born very conveniently on Saturday 8/2 at 12:31 in the afternoon. She weighed in at 6 lbs 13 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. She has a full head of hair and long finger like toes....remind you of anyone? :) Krystal had gone to the hospital on Thursday with contractions but was sent home that evening. We didn't get a call on Friday so I thought that it was just a false alarm.....well I was wrong and David called at 6 AM on Saturday morning to tell us that Krystal's water had broken and that they were going into the hospital. Pam and George had stayed at our house Friday night and with our remodel we had 1 operational bathroom, I have never seen 4 people take showers and get ready in 1 bathroom as quick as we did! We got to Mercy Hospital in Roseburg at 8:30 AM, and just a few short hours and a slightly delayed epidural later little miss Rylie was born. I was able to be in the delivery room during the birth (Thank you Krystal!!) and it was one of the coolest things I have seen. Krystal was a total trooper and was so calm and steady through the whole thing! I think they must always pick the loud screaming women that have problems to show on the Discovery channel or something :) Even baby was super calm. She cried just a little at first and then was really calm. She wasn't too happy about her shots and definitely likes to be all bundled up and held. Mom and baby were doing great so they were able to get out of the hospital almost exactly 24 hours later. So welcome baby Rylie.....here are the photos.

Little Rylie just minutes after being born.

Amma Pam (yes amma, not grandma) holding granddaughter Rylie.

A rare open eye shot. The lights are just a little too bright :)

Happy and content after her first bath given by David.

Look at those perfect little fingers! Bummer I didn't get a photo of the feet and toes to go along with those fingers :)

David and baby girl Rylie all bundled up and happy.

Sailing on the Columbia River

So this is going to be old news but I thought I would have more time inbetween this blog and the one I am going to do right after. Last weekend....man this seems like forever ago, Matt and I headed up to Janzen Beach in Portland (for those of you who do not know Oregon very well, Janzen Beach is not really too beach like, and it is on a river not the ocean). Pam and George had the sail boat up there and this was our chance to go sailing...finally :) We had awesome weather and even enough wind for Matt to try his hand at sailing. We stayed Saturday night in the boat (sorry I don't have a photo of the spacious quarters :) ), and got an abbreviated version of life on the boat. Cooking and baking is done in a super tight space but Pam has the routine down and we had a BBQ Saturday night and a full breakfast Sunday morning. Sorry this post is so short but I have another one I need to get going on!

Matt ready to get out on the water. He was complaining to George that he needs to get different colored sail covers since everyone has blue (including Mollyhock) and Matt had a difficult time finding the boat after going up to the bathroom.

Matt taking control of the boat. He did a really good job steering it back and forth across the river. Sailing makes me a little nervous at times. Relying on the wind to propel me and not being able to get out of the way right when I want to is a little freaky sometimes. I am sure I would get used to it....but then again, maybe not :)

I was very impressed with Pam's skill on getting the boat in and out of the docks. It always looks like to me that the boat is going to float right into another boat, but not with Pam behind the wheel.

One of the many other sail boats that we had to dodge out on the river.

I had the best seat on the boat, cruising along at the front.

Although this was the end of our trip, I thought this would be a good picture for the beginning of this website
