Beth's house and Turkey day #1 (Wednesday night and Thursday)

This has been a very long weekend, and it is only Saturday night....so in order to keep my sanity but also get everything down I am going to split up these posts.

Wednesday night Matt and I headed up to Beth's house after work to get an early start on the long Thanksgiving day weekend. I had somehow been fortunate enough to get Friday off and wasn't scheduled for the weekend....yippee!! Matt picked me up with the car all packed and ready to go so we could get right up the freeway. We knew it could be ugly but we didn't expect to hit traffic right off the bat. For the first 20-30 miles we were going about 15 m.p.h., oh boy, we were never going to get there! Luckily it finally cleared up and we were back on our way. This was the first time we had visited Beth and Jacob's new house that they had just bought at the beginning of the month....there was also something else new.....Dexter.

Dexter is their 6 month old lab mix puppy that they had just got from the pound the weekend before, the interesting thing about this was that we were bringing up Tasha :). When we got there Dex must have been in another room but just as we got our bodies and Tasha in the door out he came, and he was NOT happy about having this monster of a dog in HIS house. We were a little worried at first with how snappy and skittish he was around her. Usually Tasha is good about dogs until they make contact and then she "finishes the fight". But she was so incredibly patient with him and completely ignored him for the most part. I can only guess that she realized he was just scared of her and still very much a puppy. When he got too aggressive or snappy she would pin him down on the ground with her paw until he calmed down and then let him up. Dex must have realized that she was not going to hurt him because by the next morning he wouldn't leave her alone, playing and chasing and HUMPING. Holy cow he was funny to watch trying to get his paws way up high while Tasha ignored him and just stood there or walked away. I'm sure this is just the beginning to a wonderful "cousin" relationship!

The reason we had to get up to Beth's so early was so that Jacob and Matt could brew a couple batches of beer before we all headed over to Uncle Bob's house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a little colder outside than Matt had expected and he didn't think to bring a hat....so when he asked his little sis if she had one he could borrow, this is what she gave him....

So the boys got 2 out of the 3 batches brewed before we needed to head over to Uncle Bob's house. Matt and I had never been there and conveniently enough it was only a couple of miles away from Beth's place. We also hadn't seen little Mr. Ryeder (Kelsea I'm sorry if I spelled this wrong, I saw in his room you had it spelled this way) for a couple of months; not since the infamous tequila 21st b-day.

While dinner was cooking some of the gang entertained themselves with the Wii. Randy showed off his talent at Yoga......

The main course on the menu this year was Tur-duck-en....a combo of turkey, duck and chicken that was cooked on the Treager. It was definitely interesting.....

This family must be getting old or something because we were yawning and all ready to go home to bed by 8:30..... or maybe the tur-duck-en has more of that tryptophan than regular turkey. Matt and I headed home that night since we had to get ready for Turkey day #2 on Friday.....and so you will see tomorrow :) Happy Turkey Day!!!
