Water just broke 10 PM 10/27

So Miss Fiona has decided to take things into her own hands and didn't want Mom and Dad to get any sleep so instead of waiting just 9 more hours to be induced...my water just broke...so we are getting our things put together and will be heading into the hospital here shortly...this kid seriously wants to do things HER way!! :)

The end is in sight

So Miss Fiona is taking her time....but the end is in sight. I had a Dr.'s appointment this morning, everything looks good and the same but then the discussion came up. Because she is possibly a big baby the MD wanted to talk to me about the different options....1. Do nothing 2. induction 3. c-section. I was really surprised he even brought up a c-section since at my last appt. he seemed pretty against it, but actually this time said he felt if I chose to that it would be an appropriate option because of her size. Well, not interested in that if I can avoid it and as much fun as it would be to see if Fi would come on Halloween I chose option #2....I really didn't want to give even more days for a possible 10 lb baby to get too much bigger :) So unless she has a different idea in mind (which is totally possible with this little one) we are heading to the hospital Wed at 7:30 AM. I am a little nervous about the whole induction thing, I know it can increase the possibility of ending in a c-section but also trying to push out a 12 lb baby increases that chance too :) Plus I'm not trying to induce early or right on my due date, hopefully my body will just go with it...

Anyways, wanted to give an update...almost there :) I will get pics up as soon as possible!!

Ultrasound

So I had my ultrasound yesterday to make sure there was the right amount of fluid since I was measuring small. They measure from the top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus and the number of centimeters usually correspond with the number of weeks pregnant you are. Well last week at my appt the MD measured 38 and then at my appt Tue measured 35 1/2....so that's the reason for the ultrasound...he thought I might be leaking fluid which would not be good and mean we needed to get her out sooner. She had been moving quite a bit and had good heartbeats at every appointment that I wasn't too worried but wouldn't pass up the opportunity to make sure and to see her!

Anyways everything looked good, fluid was fine although the munchkin was definitely smooshed in there...I was hoping to be able to post some photos from the ultrasound but to be honest it was really hard to see anything! They did some measurements on her stomach and head circumference and femur length to help determine how big of a baby she is....well both the tech and we were surprised when it showed she was about 10 lbs 2 ounces!! Now the technician also admitted that the results can be 20% off....hopefully she is 20% to the smaller side! My MD is pretty skeptical that there is a 10 lb baby hanging out in my belly....only time will tell. All Matt could do for the rest of the day was laugh, I guess the look on my face was of total shock. I have decided that I am not making any more predictions about this little (maybe huge) girl. I was so sure at the beginning that I was having a boy and this time I was sure she was going to be 6-7 lbs...guess my job as a psychic is done :)

Had a few contractions last night after my appointment...but not much this AM...she is having way too much fun in there...maybe I'll start jumping on a trampoline or something!! :)

I promise one of these days there will be something more fun to tune into than just my long ramblings...I hope :)

No Fiona...yet

Obviously from the lack of photos Miss Fiona has decided that she is warm and happy where she is :) Had an appt. today...still 3cm dilated so no progression from 1 1/2 weeks ago, but not surprised since I haven't had much in the way of contractions the last week. The MD did think I was measuring a little small (at least smaller than he measured me last week) so I am going in for an ultrasound tomorrow to check everything is good, so maybe I will at least have the ultrasound photos to post! :) I have a couple of walks with some friends up here today so maybe that will be enough to get things going. The time has allowed me to get the house even more cleaned up. There are still plenty of boxes to go through but at least the main stuff is done and put away. Also we just got an offer in on the house....it is less than hoped for but in the current market we are happy to get anything...still haven't decided to buy up here or not, the houses are much more affordable than before but still expensive. Matt has been able to come to appt. with me, luckily his job is flexible and he can do some work from home...

Well, that's the current news...hopefully more exciting stuff next time :)!!!

Update because I'm up..

So finally in Seattle...house all empty in Corvallis :( it is pretty sad...hard to leave when so much sweat and hard work was put into that house...oh well. Friday I thought we would also be having Fiona there too (not at the house but at least bringing her back there!) So because I am up at 3 AM and need something quiet to do (not unpacking boxes or laundry) here is the run down of the last few days....

Friday I went in for my last appointment with my Corvallis doc...most of my appointments up to this point have been pretty uneventful (a good thing I know), well they asked if I wanted to be checked to see if I was starting to dilate and since I hadn't been checked yet and since this was my last appointment with them I said...sure. (little did I know the consequences of that 4 letter word). So the MD did a check and said "wow, you are 2 cm dilated and 80-90% effaced, that's pretty good for how far along you are" (38w5days)....I was pretty amazed myself since I really hadn't been having any contractions as far as I could tell. I joked with her that I was suppose to ask if she would induce me since all my gals at work would love to see Fiona before I left for Seattle on Sunday...and she told me (obviously) no she couldn't do that but she could "strip my membrane" to see if that would get things going since I was already thinning out...once again that darn 4 letter word...SURE. Anyways she did that and apparently just by going back in there caused me to go from 2 to a 3 cm....she said just to be sure that I should stop by labor and delivery the next day (Sat) before I decided to head up to Seattle since I had progressed so easily...by this time I was sure miss Fiona was going to be a Corvallis baby!

So after my appointment I went to work....not the smartest thing in the world since by this time I was super nauseated and achy...but I needed to get stuff done since this was my last day before my maternity leave...needless to say I got nothing done (serves the big wigs right for not getting my replacement earlier but sorry to the gals for having to deal with the craziness!), and was having such a hard time concentrating that my wonderful girls at work sent me to go back to the clinic to make sure I wasn't going into labor. Well I ended up going back to my Dr.'s office, a nurse just came out and talked to me, said "you look way too happy to be in labor" asked a few more questions and sent me home.

Next morning (Sat) ran some errands (and went on a long walk with Krystal and Rylie) and started to pack things up. By 1 PM I was having contractions pretty consistently every 2 minutes (I was sure this was it) but I waited until 2:30 to go into the hospital....the MD yesterday told me to anyways so I thought I was pretty safe.....long story short, I was admitted, walked the hallways a lot, had some contractions but didn't progress at all so they sent me home and said unless things change go ahead and head up to Seattle....so here I am and that is the super long update :)

Sorry no fun pics on this one...maybe I'll take some of the house (mostly the outside since the inside is still a disaster) and post later today....got to keep myself busy since I am officially on maternity leave!!

Catch up....yes a lot of catch up :)

I know I have a lot of catching up to do and feel I need to get this done before Miss Fiona makes her appearance...maybe I am just nesting but whatever it is...here I go :)

Work Baby Shower 8/30

The girls at work threw me a babyshower one Sunday afternoon, they came up with all sorts of crazy games including being blindfolded and racing to change a diaper on a stuffed animal (I still need some work), trying to determine the contents of a baby diaper that looked like poop (melted candy bars, baby food, other gross looking stuff), and the taboo word game ("Suzanne" and "baby" were out....Karen M kicked everyones butt!). Thanks guys for the great time, I was truly overwhelmed by the work you put into everything....I will miss you :(

I think Mom is beating me...

Did she just take a taste of whatever was in that diaper?!

Labor day weekend

My Best Buds from Bend came to see me (since I didn't get my butt over to Bend all summer!) and to hang out. It was a lot of fun just catching up and running around our old stomping ground (OSU) together again. Cambria brought little miss Brooklyn who had a ball running around after Tasha! I put one pic up a while ago of me and Susie with our preggo bellies....well, here are a few more.

Back together hanging out on Monroe

Miss you guys!!

Baby, Baby, Birthday BBQ

So since Beth and I are just a couple of weeks apart and Matt's 30th Birthday was this month (Sept), we decided to get the family together for a combined event over at Randy and Kathy's...Always a good time and lots of fun watching Matt and Jacob clean, change and dress baby dolls :)

Always have to get cute pics of Rylie

The boys debating if a beer is really necessary for changing a diaper...you can imagine what the verdict was on that one!

What a goofy girl!

Ryder's beautiful blue eyes

Rylie loved hanging with Aunt Penny

Oktoberfest

Just a couple of cute pics of Mom and Dad. They stopped by on their way up to Mt. Angel for Oktoberfest...

Maternity session

So my friend Tami came over last weekend to help me take some pics of the Budda Belly...she did an awesome job and it was so much fun....I can't wait to start taking pics of my little one, be prepared for a lot of them :) Especially now that I finally got my new photo program, still need to read the book to figure it all out but at least I got the download and export to blog site down :)

38 Weeks

Alright....the next time pictures get posted they might be of Fiona!!! I will try and keep this blog posted as best I can....I am also on Facebook, although I won't be posting a whole lot of pictures to that site, it will be mostly written updates....

Quick pic of week 34

So my friends Susie, Cambria and Sheri all came to visit me last weekend in Corvallis....it was a blast. I haven't seen them all summer which was way too long. I got some great pics of the two preggo girls (Susie is 27 weeks here) but once again having problems with my stupid system. This time the new operating system that Matt just installed doesn't like to play nice with my photo program so I haven't figured out what to do about it so in the mean time here is a photo from Susie....
